Network transfers

A transfer connects a route between warehouse sites to the request that authorized it. The Inventory Coordinator can compare the transfer units and destination with the approved parent before release.

What you can do

Follow the operating record

A network transfer is an extension of a parent stock request. It carries an origin site, destination site, required date, transfer units, organization, revision and its own status. The parent link keeps the transfer tied to the business need that triggered it.

The Inventory Coordinator prepares a draft transfer against an approved request and submits it. The coordinator checks the parent approval, source revision and intended route before release. Decision time and the operation receipt make the release traceable, including an uncertain or failed outcome.

The transfer has its own status and revision. Its decision time and operation receipt help the team distinguish an approved route from a recorded result. A transfer marked complete still needs matching movement evidence when stock quantity matters.

How the work is organized

  • Prepare. Inventory Coordinator records origin, destination, units and parent request on the transfer.
  • Release. Inventory Coordinator checks the submitted transfer against the approved request revision before recording the decision.
  • Trace. Inventory Reviewer examines the receipt and linked effects if the outcome needs reconciliation.

What to agree during setup

Agree how site names map to your storage locations, who may submit a transfer and who releases it. Define the evidence needed for a transfer that changes after submission, and how a failed receipt is reconciled before another attempt.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Suppose one warehouse has stock for a request assigned to another. The coordinator selects the parent request and records both site names and the transfer units. The coordinator checks the submitted transfer against the approved parent. When release is recorded, the team can compare that transfer with the resulting movement and receipt instead of relying on a status alone.

If the transfer route changes after submission, check its revision and the parent approval again. Inspect the receipt for the release attempt before repeating it. When the movement is posted, compare the signed effects at the participating locations with the route and units.

What your team sees

  • Transfer review queue — Lists submitted transfers with their parent, route and units for release checks.
  • Network transfer board — Groups transfer records by status so the team can follow their decision state.
