Who it's for

Manufacturers moving goods between plants

An inter-plant movement needs agreement between the sending operation and the receiving dock. The Transport Planner records what will move and when it is promised. The Dispatcher connects that requirement to a driver and vehicle, while the Dock Reviewer decides the receiving reservation. Each team can investigate its part of the handoff without losing the common load reference.

How Manufacturing TMS is set up for you

Keep the movement identifiable

Use consistent item codes and lane names for recurring plant transfers. Record the organization and responsible load owner, then distinguish pickup and receiving stops through their sequence and type.

Review receiving capacity

The receiving plant supplies the dock capacity and operating note. Dispatcher submits the appointment with planned pallets, and Dock Reviewer records the independent outcome against the request revision.

Coordinate equipment changes

Fleet Coordinator reviews vehicle defects and service needs with Dispatcher. A replacement vehicle belongs in the assignment before the sending plant releases the trip on the old arrangement.

Resolve the final handoff

Delivery Coordinator verifies receiving evidence against the destination stop. Dispatcher checks the remaining stops and plant appointment outcome before marking the overall load Delivered.

Start with a regular lane between nearby plants and a team that can explain both ends of the movement. Confirm the time convention used for the departure, appointment and actual events. Test a delivery-promise change after assignment and compare the current load with its dock reservation before departure.

Include a vehicle defect in the rehearsal so the team practices replacing equipment while preserving a clear assignment history. At the destination, use a disputed signature reference and ask the Delivery Coordinator to resolve it before verification. Agree how the transport outcome reaches the production or inventory system during setup, with the receiving system's owner responsible for its stock effect.
