How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Tool & Die Management for your business. Begin with an identifiable tool, a maintenance request and the people responsible for authorization, execution and sharpening review. Rehearse the successful case and an expired-permit case before expanding the scope.

What does the tool register contain?

It records the tool’s name, asset tag, location, manufacturer, serial number, commissioning date and service state. Work orders and specialty evidence refer back to that asset so the team can follow the same physical item through maintenance.

How do technicians find their work?

Map each Technician’s user account to the correct person record during setup. Assigned maintenance then identifies the tool, work description and due date for that person. Rehearse the mapping with the signed-in Technician before the first operating cycle.

What happens when maintenance starts?

The work-start action validates safety and authorization, posts planned part usage exactly once, logs work start and sets the eligible asset to Maintenance. Technician should use that action after checking the actual tool and applicable permit interval.

How should we record tool cycles?

Record the asset, work-order reference, cycle count and event date. Agree whether readings are cumulative or incremental before reviewing history. The cycle-capture workflow validates the submission and sends attributed evidence to the responsible reviewer.

Who releases a sharpening job?

Maintenance Reviewer decides an eligible inspected outcome using the submitted evidence and agreed release criteria. Technician records the work, material removed and remaining allowance. Rejected outcomes stay visible for Maintenance Manager to resolve.

How are safety permits used?

A permit connects its type, issuer and validity interval to a work order. Maintenance Manager coordinates approval, with delegated issuing responsibility configured where needed. Technician must consider the interval as well as the Approved status when starting work.

Can we review spare-part consumption?

Part usage records the spare, quantity, use date and related work order. Maintenance Manager can compare recorded consumption with the job and review stock against reorder points. Set up a purchasing connection when the replenishment decision needs to enter the buying system.

What happens at maintenance close?

The close workflow validates completion, records service history against the asset and work order and returns the eligible tool to service. Maintenance Manager reviews the outcome and next due date to decide the next maintenance action.

Can we connect machine counters or production planning?

Treat those connections as setup choices. Agree the asset identity, work reference and event interpretation with the system owner, then rehearse wrong mappings and repeated submissions before routine use. See connections for the boundaries to settle.
