Systems to connect
- Production planning. Set up a connection when maintenance needs references from the system that owns manufacturing work and schedules. Agree the reference format and which system owns changes to the production plan.
- Machine counters. Connect a counter source if the team wants to capture readings from equipment. Map the asset and event date and agree whether each value is cumulative or incremental before accepting it as tool-cycle evidence.
- Purchasing. Connect the system that owns suppliers, purchase orders and receipts when replenishment review needs to become a buying action. Agree how accepted stock updates reach the spare-part register.
- Tooling instructions. Keep drawings and measurement instructions with the system or controlled repository that owns them. Agree how Technician and Maintenance Reviewer obtain the correct instructions for the tool and operation.
How connections are governed
Treat each connection as setup work with an accountable owner and a rehearsal case. Define the direction of exchange, the identifiers used and how failed or repeated submissions are handled. Check authorization at the receiving action, especially when incoming data could affect consumption or a release decision.
A counter reading can provide evidence for review; the responsible person still decides the next maintenance action. A purchasing response must be reconciled to the correct spare and unit before the quantity is used in planning. Rehearse an incorrect asset mapping and a repeated event before enabling routine exchange.
Start with implementation and confirm the relevant references in the data model.
