Manufacturer outbound and transfer freight

A manufacturer can use Transport Management for outbound finished-goods freight and plant-to-plant movements after the goods are ready to travel. The app keeps carrier agreements, shipment cargo, movement legs and invoice evidence connected. Production orders, material planning and warehouse inventory remain connected business systems with their own release and reconciliation procedures.

How Transport Management is set up for you

Describe the cargo before rating

Cargo item records preserve item description, quantity, weight in pounds and package type. Transportation Planner checks the shipment header against the actual packed contents so a rate band is selected from supported weight and freight-class evidence.

Preserve the carrier handoff

Movement leg records can represent a change of mode or carrier between facilities. Stop records retain the sequence and actual arrivals. Dispatcher/Ops checks each handoff without treating a completed leg as proof that the entire shipment reached its destination.

Explain the waiting time

Facility arrival and departure evidence belongs with detention records. The free-time allowance and justified hours are reviewed against the agreement before a carrier's charged hours are accepted. Freight Audit Clerk can follow an unsupported charge into the linked dispute.

Keep hazardous-freight evidence reviewable

Hazardous shipment records retain the shipment's UN number, hazard class, packing group, placard requirement and signed-certification flag. Logistics Manager coordinates the required review with verified access. Check the shipping documents and handling instructions with the responsible shipper before tendering hazardous freight.

Pilot a repeat movement between known facilities with an agreed rate sheet and a delivery document. Include a stop where the arrival and departure times can be checked, then follow the resulting carrier charge through audit. Review an old tracking event after delivery and confirm that it does not move the shipment backwards.

Agree which upstream reference identifies the released freight and which account enters carrier invoice lines. Keep internal transfer stock recognition outside this freight record unless a separately verified connection supplies it. Inspect the document upload path and the automatic invoice eligibility outcome before broader rollout. [Rehearse the implementation](/transport-management/implementation).
