What you can do
Keep the issue attached to the work it affects
An exception identifies an operational problem under a specific work order. Its reason should explain what needs attention, while the opened date shows when the issue entered the queue. Operations Manager uses that record to coordinate a correction or follow up on missing evidence.
A pending certificate is an example of an issue that may remain after the physical movement has occurred. The team needs to know which work is affected and which evidence is still outstanding. Linking the exception to the work order keeps the stream, manifest and field activity available during investigation.
Resolution follows a controlled path from Open into reasoned Review. The action appends an attributed corrective work log to the same order and verifies the persisted effects before marking the exception Resolved. The resolved date records the end of that path. An explanation without the required persisted correction is insufficient to complete the operation.
How the work is organized
- Issue identification. Operations Manager inspects the reason and parent order before requesting a resolution. Operations Officer can read the issue and provide the operational context needed for the correction.
- Corrective evidence. The authorized action attributes the corrective work to the acting person. The log belongs to the original work order so the reviewer can follow the issue and correction together.
- Verified resolution. The action checks its persisted effects before recording resolution. Operations Reviewer reads the outcome and supporting evidence through the authorized operating scope.
What to agree during setup
Agree what a useful exception reason contains. It should identify the observed issue and the evidence or correction needed, without asking the next person to reconstruct the case from a separate conversation. Name the person who follows up on certificate requests after a transfer.
Rehearse how a correction reaches the workflow through the authorized page action or manual trigger. The selected exception and its work order must remain explicit. A manual trigger needs the same scope and identity checks as the page action. Decide how the operator describes corrective activity so it remains distinguishable from the original collection.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Start with a transferred manifest whose certificate is outstanding. Inspect the exception under the original work order and record the reason for follow-up. When the genuine certificate arrives, use the authorized resolution path with the supporting context. Check that the corrective work log belongs to the same order and names the actual acting person.
Then rehearse a case where the required corrective effect has not persisted. The exception must not be treated as resolved merely because the action was requested. Try selecting an exception from unrelated work and verify that the scope check prevents the correction from landing there. The final history should explain both the original issue and the evidence used to resolve it.
What your team sees
- Exception Queue — Open and review-stage issues with their reason and parent work order.
- Field Work Log — Attributed corrective entries alongside the earlier operating activity.
- Work Review Queue — Parent work awaiting review of its operational evidence.
Follow the work through
