What you can do

Settle what the customer needs before you commit a price

Aerospace buyers rarely ask for a part number alone. They name a part revision, a lot quantity, the certificate that must ship with the parts and the date they need them. Aerospace requirements records hold exactly that against the quote: Part revision, lot quantity, certificate type and required by, with the quote as Parent and the issuing Organization. Recording these before pricing lets a reviewer confirm the request is one you can supply before a price goes to the customer.

A requirement starts in Draft. The Quote Specialist submits it, which freezes the revision under review. A Pricing Reviewer who did not submit it approves or rejects it, and decision at records when. An approved requirement is then marked Completed by the Quote Specialist. An approved requirement never changes the parent quote’s status, lines or amounts; it records what was agreed alongside them.

How the work is organized

  • Requirements sit beside the quote. Each requirement belongs to one quote through Parent. A quote can carry more than one requirement when the customer asks for different part revisions or certificates.
  • Frozen while in review. Once Submitted, the requirement revision is fixed. A change after submission goes through a new revision so the reviewer’s decision always matches what they saw.
  • Independent decision. The person who submits a requirement does not decide it. The Pricing Reviewer approves or rejects it and the outcome is visible in the requirement’s Status.

What to agree during setup

Agree the certificate type values your customers ask for and how they should be written, so reviewers and auditors can filter on them. Agree how part revision is recorded, including any customer drawing reference you include in it. Decide what a reviewer must check before approving: lot size against your capacity, the required by date against your lead time, and whether the certificate can be supplied for that part. Agree who completes an approved requirement and when.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a recent request where the customer asked for a specific part revision with a certificate and a tight delivery date. Record the requirement on a Draft quote and submit it. Have a Pricing Reviewer approve it, then confirm that the person who submitted a second requirement cannot also decide it. Reject a third requirement with an unrealistic required by date. Then check that none of these decisions changed the quote’s Status or net amount USD.

Ask the Quote Specialist to show which requirements are still open on the quote, and the Auditor to show when each was decided.

What your team sees

  • Open aerospace requirements — requirements in Draft, Submitted or Approved with part revision, lot quantity, certificate type and required-by date.
  • Requirements awaiting review — submitted requirements waiting for a Pricing Reviewer’s decision.
