Calculator and statements
Two questions come up on every desk. Before a deal is booked: what will each side pay us on this trade? After a month of trading: what does this client owe, and what have they paid? The Commission Calculator answers the first from the same rate cards that price real deals. The Client Statement answers the second from the client’s lines and receipts.

What you can do
Price a trade before booking it
The broker enters the trade: the commodity, quantity and rate per MT, and the parties being considered. The calculator finds the rate card each side would use with the same rules as a booked deal, shows the calculation step by step and gives the commission from each side.
- Same rules as a deal. Commodity-specific cards before client-wide ones, cards valid on the date and for the side, minimums applied.
- Step by step. Percentage of value, per-MT amount, flat fee and minimum shown separately.
- Compare parties. Which buyers or sellers would pay the most brokerage on that trade.
The calculator can be used while the trade is still being negotiated. When the terms are agreed, Book this deal opens the deal form already filled in; once the deal is saved, its seller and buyer commission lines are created automatically.
A statement for each client
The Client Statement is a statement of account for one client and a statement period, ready to print or save as a PDF and send to the client.
| Section | Shows |
|---|---|
| Rate cards | The client’s cards with terms summary and dates |
| Opening balance | What the client owed when the period started |
| Invoiced and received | Commission invoiced and payments received in the period |
| Balance due | What the client owes now |
| Average days to pay | How quickly the client pays after invoicing |
| By month | Invoiced against received, month by month |
| Not yet invoiced | Commission on open deals not yet delivered |
The statement answers a client’s query with the same lines the accounts team works from. When the client pays, Record Receipt on the statement opens the receipt form, and the balance updates once it is saved.
What to agree during setup
Agree who sends statements and how often, and whether statements go out with every invoice run or monthly. Decide whether brokers may share calculator results with clients during negotiation.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use the calculator on a trade between two clients with different cards and compare the result with a booked deal on the same terms. Print a statement for a client with paid, invoiced and undelivered deals and check the running balance against the client record’s outstanding commission.
