What you can do
Give the gate decision an operating reference
A gate assignment records the gate code, planned start and amount against the trip supporting the flight activity. Finance Officer prepares the entry, and Operations Reviewer examines the specialty evidence with the operating team. Property Manager can read the assignment while reviewing the related ground movement.
For example, a transfer planned around an arrival may need its gate details checked before the shift acts on them. The reviewer opens the trip context and compares the gate code and start with the flight information being used by the team. Everyone should be able to identify the movement the assignment concerns without relying on a copied flight label in a message.
How the work is organized
- Draft preparation. Finance Officer captures the gate code, start time and amount, then checks the selected trip. Draft keeps the entry in the review queue while the operating details are examined. A nearby arrival with a similar flight number is a reason to verify the trip reference carefully.
- Review responsibility. Operations Reviewer examines the attributed specialty evidence and authorizes an eligible outcome through the agreed review route. Property Manager supplies the ground movement context. Agree who may carry out the resulting update before the team starts using the gate queue during a live shift.
- Recorded outcome. Posted identifies an entry that has completed the agreed handling. Voided distinguishes an entry that should no longer be used. Keep the reason for a correction with the agreed review evidence so the next shift can understand why an earlier draft was set aside.
What to agree during setup
Agree the gate code convention and the source used to check a planned start. The airport’s operational team should decide how conflicting gate information is resolved. Finance Officer defines what the amount represents and the operating currency. Confirm the route from review to the saved outcome, including who communicates a correction to people preparing the ground movement.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Create a draft for a known transfer and review its gate code against the team’s agreed arrival information. Operations Reviewer follows the evidence back to the selected trip. Finance Officer applies the reviewed outcome, and Property Manager checks that the saved entry still describes the intended ground movement.
Then rehearse an incorrect gate code discovered before posting. Keep the draft under review until corrected, or void it under the team’s correction procedure. Ask the next shift to distinguish the usable assignment from the voided entry. Finally, examine another entry for the same gate and compare the start details with the airport’s operating plan before relying on either assignment.
What your team sees
- Gate assignment review — Examine draft gate entries with their start details, amounts and associated trips.
- Posted gate assignments — Find recorded outcomes that the team can use during its handoff review.
Follow the work through
Read flight and gate review, then agree the review responsibilities in roles and permissions.
What it keeps track of
Data model- Gate assignments
- Gate assignments for a flight, with gate code, start time, amount and status.
- Trips
- Transport trips with planned and actual start and end, passenger count, trip rate and lifecycle status.
- Flight turns
- Flight turns attached to an operational trip, with flight number, scheduled arrival and passenger count.
Who uses it
Permissions- Finance Officer
- Maintains gate entries.
- Operations Reviewer
- Handles evidence review, and Property Manager checks the related ground movement.
