What you can do

Give output a deliberate release decision

Quality Reviewer works from a Pending batch and the production evidence behind it. The lot identifies the output under review, while the linked work order leads back to the production logs. The reviewer decides whether the accepted output is ready for release through Release Accepted Batch.

The action accepts eligible Pending batches with accepted production output. It releases the batch, posts finished inventory and completes the linked work order. Held, Rejected and zero-output batches are refused. Production Planner can then reconcile the completed work and its finished stock against what the floor reported.

How the work is organized

  • Pending output. Ending a valid production interval creates or updates the batch awaiting review. The lot and production date help the reviewer identify the physical output presented for the decision.
  • Acceptance evidence. Quality Reviewer reads the production interval, including good and scrap quantities, and reviews relevant station outcomes with the floor. The reviewer remains responsible for deciding whether the output is accepted.
  • Completion effects. Successful release changes the batch to Released and completes the work order while posting finished inventory. Production Planner checks those effects together before treating the run as reconciled.

What to agree during setup

Agree how the physical lot is presented for review and how the reviewer identifies its pending batch. Where expiry dates are used, establish who maintains them and how the floor interprets them. The reviewer needs a clear handoff from Production Operator when the reported interval has ended.

Rehearse the reviewer account’s release action separately from ordinary record access. The reviewer reads operational evidence and uses the specific release decision. Admin should test the actual accounts and permitted actions before the first live run so that the handoff does not depend on someone borrowing another person’s access.

Decide how the team handles output that remains Held or Rejected. Those dispositions prevent accepted release. The planner and reviewer should agree who resolves the physical issue and what evidence must be reviewed afterward. Use the recorded disposition when deciding whether a lot can move into available finished stock.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Choose a Pending batch with accepted good output from a completed production interval. Quality Reviewer checks the lot against the physical units, reads the production quantities and uses Release Accepted Batch. Production Planner then confirms the Released batch, the finished inventory change and the Completed work order.

Repeat the exercise with a Held batch and then with a batch that has no accepted output. Both release attempts should be refused. Confirm that the refused attempt leaves finished inventory and work completion unchanged. Finally, repeat the successful release request as a retry rehearsal and verify that finished stock has not been credited again. Resolve any discrepancy before using the procedure during a busy shift.

What your team sees

  • Pending Output — Batches waiting for the reviewer, with lot identity and production date visible.
  • Quality Review Queue — Work orders whose production evidence is ready for the quality handoff.
  • Available Stock — On-hand balances to check against the released product and lot.

Follow the work through

Follow Review and release output and use Post and reverse material when investigating the material side of the run.
