What you can do

Give the planner a service date to review

A preventive plan ties the service interval to a specific asset. Maintenance Planner records the interval in days or hours, the last serviced date and the next due date. These details give the team a practical starting point for deciding what work to prepare before equipment needs attention.

The plan-capture action checks the selected asset and planning values before saving the preventive plan. The planner then opens the saved plan and confirms that its dates and intervals belong to the intended equipment. Maintenance tickets carry the subsequent assignment and work lifecycle, so the team should review the plan and its resulting work together during the operating cycle.

How the work is organized

  • Asset selection. Maintenance Planner chooses the equipment from the asset register and confirms its identity. The plan remains linked to that asset as dates or intervals are reviewed.
  • Interval definition. The planner records the day-based or hour-based interval used by the service practice. Last service and next due dates retain the planning context that the team needs at its review.
  • Work preparation. Scheduled Maintenance brings upcoming and already-due plans into view. Maintenance Planner prepares the appropriate ticket with the assigned Technician and due date, then routes eligible work for authorization.

What to agree during setup

Agree which maintenance tasks use calendar days and which use operating hours. Keep the units understandable to the people entering readings and preparing work. An hour-based service interval needs a clear operating practice for reviewing usage; the next due date should reflect the planning decision the team intends to act on.

Choose how the last serviced date is maintained after work is accepted and who reviews the next due date. Agree the horizon for the upcoming-work screen and how overdue plans will be discussed. A useful planning view should help the team decide what to prepare, rather than imply that an upcoming date already represents an authorized technician assignment.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Use a compressor whose service practice is based on calendar days. Maintenance Planner selects the asset, records the interval and enters the known last service date with the intended next due date. Save the plan and check that it appears for that compressor in Scheduled Maintenance.

Prepare a preventive maintenance ticket from the planning decision, then confirm its asset, Technician and due date before requesting authorization. The Maintenance Approver should be able to follow the work back to the same equipment. After the Technician completes the service and inspection is accepted, have the planner review the preventive dates using the accepted service evidence.

Repeat the capture with an asset selection or interval that fails the agreed input rule. Check that the planner can identify the problem and correct the entry. After saving, open the plan and confirm its equipment and service dates before continuing the rehearsal.

What your team sees

  • Scheduled Maintenance — Preventive plans due within the planning horizon, including overdue dates for review.
  • Open Maintenance Tickets — Prepared and active work with its assignee, due date and current state.
