How a Batch Manufacturing rollout works

Rehearse a batch from customer demand through material posting and accepted inventory before expanding.

  1. Agree the operating cycle

Planner and Quality Reviewer choose a familiar product and batch process. Identify who prepares work, posts material and accepts output. Agree the resource, quantity units and inspection handoff for the pilot.

  2. Prepare the reference records

Admin maps users to people and checks item, party and resource identities. Reconcile opening inventory by location and lot. Buyer reviews supplier purchase lines and their outstanding quantities.

  3. Configure the working views

Use Proto to set up the team's access and working queues. Review Production Schedule with Planner, My Production Logs with Operator and Batch Release Inbox with Quality Reviewer. Each person should recognize the records used in their daily work.

  4. Rehearse production

Release an eligible Draft work order, post a material issue and have Quality Reviewer create the Pending batch against that work order before Operator captures its inputs. Record a valid production interval and separate good, rework and scrap output quantities. Quality Reviewer inspects the case before accepted release.

  5. Test the difficult cases

Repeat the issue and release requests to check that inventory changes once. Try an invalid batch reference, an end before a start and an Operator attempting quality release. Resolve the observed results with the responsible people.

  6. Reconcile and open the pilot

Compare starting stock, issues and accepted output with the resulting balances. Check batch disposition and work order completion together. Keep the source export and agree the cutover window before opening the operating cycle to the team.

What the customer provides

  • Item identities and units, with active materials and finished goods clearly identified.
  • Opening inventory by location and lot, plus the source counts used to reconcile it.
  • Customer orders and supplier purchase lines for the pilot.
  • Resource names, daily capacity and current availability.
  • Operator identities, the people-to-user mapping and the quality decision owner.
  • A representative batch with input evidence, production intervals and inspected output quantities.

Changing it afterwards

Use Proto to prepare a configuration change for review with the person responsible for the affected work. Check permissions and quantity calculations whenever a screen or workflow changes. Replay the pilot’s posting and acceptance cases before releasing the change, and retain the original production history.

Agree optional connections through Integrations. Get started describes the first operating cycle, and Pricing explains the platform charges.
