Food and ingredient batch teams
Food and ingredient teams often need a clear account of the material used in a run and the finished quantity ready for acceptance. Batch Manufacturing keeps source lots on batch inputs, production and expiry dates on the batch, and separate good, rework and scrap output quantities. The quality decision stays with Quality Reviewer, using the team's inspection procedure.
How Batch Manufacturing is set up for you
Identify the ingredient source
Operator enters the material and source lot against the batch after preparing the matching material issue. Check the physical lot label during entry so similar ingredient deliveries remain distinguishable.
Review the batch dates
Quality Reviewer checks the production and expiry dates when inspecting the batch. Agree how those dates are determined and who enters them during setup, using the operation's own product requirements.
Keep the disposition visible
Pending, Held and Rejected batches remain distinguishable from Released output. Planner can discuss unfinished production with Quality Reviewer before assuming that recorded good units are ready for use.
Read yield with its quantities
Production logs retain good and scrap units. Review both amounts behind the percentage and compare runs using the same unit and production basis.

Choose a product the team makes regularly, with known ingredient lots and an agreed finished unit. Enter a customer order and prepare its work order. Record the ingredient issues, batch inputs and an ordinary production interval, then inspect the batch output before accepted release.
Include a batch requiring further investigation in the pilot. Ask Quality Reviewer to explain its disposition and identify the evidence needed for the next decision. Where laboratory results are needed, set up the connection with the laboratory's system and agree how the reviewer finds the relevant result. The production team should rehearse the ordinary batch handoff before expanding the operating scope.
Use [Batch output to release](/batch-manufacturing/processes/batch-output-to-release) for the acceptance rehearsal and [Integrations](/batch-manufacturing/integrations) for external result ownership.
Features to start with
Batch inputs
Attribute each consumed material and source lot to the batch that used it.
Batch outputs and quality
Keep good, rework and scrap quantities visible while Quality Reviewer decides accepted output release.
Production logs
Record the operator interval and compare good and scrap units before the quality handoff.
