What you can do
Explain what happened during the run
Operator ends a production interval with the work order, operator identity, start and end times and the quantities of good and scrap units. That interval connects the floor’s account of the run to the work awaiting quality review. Planner can inspect progress against planned production, while Quality Reviewer can examine the recorded output before deciding which batch output can enter finished inventory.
Production Logs and Details provides work order and operator filters. Its daily Recorded entries trend groups entries by creation date. Selecting a log reveals material issues and inventory balances for closer investigation. Use the selected work context when discussing a result so another run’s quantities do not become part of the explanation.
How the work is organized
- Capture the interval. Operator records the actual start and end and the good and scrap units. The interval capture checks the submitted time boundaries before saving the record.
- Read the yield basis. Production yield uses good units divided by good plus scrap units. Keep the numerator and denominator visible when comparing runs, and leave a zero-denominator result without a percentage.
- Hand over for inspection. Saving the production interval routes the work order to quality review. Quality Reviewer then examines the batch’s input and output evidence before approving accepted output.
What to agree during setup
Agree the unit used for production quantities and the time zone used to record intervals. Map each Operator to the correct person and user identity. Shared names must not cause another person’s work to appear in the operator’s personal list. Rehearse filters with ordinary accounts before opening the pilot to the floor.
Define how the team distinguishes entry date from the production interval itself. A log entered the following morning belongs to that morning’s entry trend, while its start and end still describe the earlier production work. Review the denominator used in yield discussions. A batch output quantity and a production log quantity serve different reviews and should retain their own context.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Operator records a run from 09:00 to 10:00 with 96 good units and 4 scrap units. Production yield is 96 divided by 100, or 96 percent. Quality Reviewer can see the actual good and scrap quantities behind that result. The work order moves to quality review while the finished inventory receipt waits for the accepted-output decision.
During rehearsal, select that log and inspect its related material issues. Confirm that the quantities describe the same work order. Then switch to a different operator filter and check that the results change as expected. Ask Planner to find the interval by its production date and explain why a later entry might appear on a different day in the entry trend.
Test an end time before the start and check that the interval capture prevents it. Also examine a zero-output interval: it must not be presented as a perfect yield. These cases let the floor and quality team agree what needs correcting before they rely on a chart during their daily review.
What your team sees
- Production Intervals — Review recorded start and end times with the work order, operator and production quantities.
- My Production Logs — Inspect the signed-in operator’s intervals before a handoff or quantity discussion.
Follow the work through
Use Interval to quality review for the floor handoff and Output quantities to review to interpret batch totals. Reports explains the yield basis.
