How a BOM Management rollout works
Start with a real assembly structure and rehearse the decisions before using live production work.
Agree the operating boundary
Production Planner and Quality Reviewer select the pilot assembly, instruction source and inspection routine. Agree the BOM revision instruction handoff and who owns stock maintenance.
Resolve people and authority
Link each person to their user account and agree the action authority of the production roles, Manager and Admin. Define engineering release, commercial approval and controlled start and completion actions with their deciding owners.
Load reviewed references
Prepare item records, customer and supplier records and production resources, then revisions and component lines. Resolve customer and supplier headers before their line records. Reconcile inventory balances with the designated source.
Rehearse an operating cycle
Validate components and a revision, submit an engineering request and obtain the engineering decision. Release eligible work, post an identified issue and submit production output before the reviewer considers batch release.
Verify failures and repeats
Try invalid dates, a released component parent, incomplete change references, an unapproved order, negative output and premature batch release. Retry successful guarded actions and inspect the original records for a second effect.
Release the agreed configuration
Check direct action permissions, the operating views and required connections. Review the remaining manual handoffs with their owners before using live demand and production records.
What the customer provides
Bring current item codes and units, assembly revisions, component quantities and the people who decide engineering changes. Supply real order commitments, resource availability, reconciled stock balances and the inspection evidence used to release output. Identify open work whose instructions must remain on an earlier revision.
Changing it afterwards
Use Proto to prepare changes for review before release. Review changes to revision instructions, stock connections and engineering evidence with the responsible people. Rehearse the changed handoff using an actual assembly case before relying on it. Keep the existing item and account identities and successful operational records intact while testing the new behavior.
Review access, the model and pricing when agreeing the rollout.
