Component assembly teams
An assembly team needs to explain which components belong to a product and which revision the next run should follow. BOM Management supports that conversation with BOM revisions and component lines, engineering requests and work-order execution. Start with assemblies whose item identities and quantity units the planner can verify against current instructions. Use a real example from your own assembly instructions when agreeing the pilot.
How BOM Management is set up for you
Structure preparation
Production Planner records the product revision, effective window and component quantities. Validate a positive quantity per assembly and stated unit before asking Manager to release the structure. Agree how the team handles a unit mismatch in its source data.
Component substitution
Use the reason on an engineering change request to explain a replacement and name the deciding person through approver. Submission enters Review; the Manager decision establishes whether the change is accepted. Apply an accepted change to an editable revision while retaining the earlier Released structure.
Floor handoff
Compare the chosen structure with the work order's product and the team's actual instructions. Agree how the planner hands the selected revision instructions to the operator and replaces an earlier copy after engineering release.
Output review
Production Operator records good and scrap output during the run. Quality Reviewer later decides whether the Pending batch from Quality review work may be Released, using the agreed inspection evidence source.

Pilot a demonstration assembly, its component stock and a customer order with a feasible resource window. Include a replacement component request and a batch the reviewer would hold. The pilot should show the team where draft validation ends and a person's decision begins. Check the operator's identity mapping and the named views with different accounts before using live production data.
Keep design files, inventory maintenance and accounting responsibilities explicit. Choose the stock owner and reconcile posted issues with the balance source during the pilot. Features to start with
Production execution
Release eligible work orders, post identified material issues and capture production intervals for quality review.
BOM revisions
Keep the product, revision identity and effective window visible before a structure is released.
Component structure
Review each component quantity, stated unit and scrap allowance against its editable parent revision.
Roles on the team
- Production Planner
- Owns production setup, planning and assigned operational work.
- Production Operator
- Captures assigned production work and evidence.
- Quality Reviewer
- Reviews evidence and authorizes eligible domain outcomes.
- Manager
- Owns the named engineering approval and reviews customer and supplier commitments under the agreed decision permissions.
