Prepare the next service action with Proto

Use Proto to prepare meal-service work and explain the evidence needed for account and area-release decisions.

It can

  • Property Manager: Gather the diner count and service dates for a requested booking, then identify the area capacity and dated meal-rate terms to check.
  • Front Desk Agent: Find assigned service tasks and prepare a counter booking against the intended diner account.
  • Finance Officer: Compare posted meal and counter charges with confirmed receipts and identify pending payments needing evidence.
  • Operations Reviewer: Assemble the source case for an eligible charge decision or dining-area release inspection.

Stays with a person

  • The assistant cannot replace a required reviewer decision, assume receipt confirmation or release a dining area before a passed inspection.
  • Authorized actions still validate the staff identity and current source case.
  • A repeated command must preserve its operation identity instead of producing another effect because the earlier response was unclear.
  • Agent requests and automated activity use platform usage.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree people and space

The Property Manager confirms diner contacts and dining-area capacity. Admin links staff to authenticated users. Name the Front Desk Agent, Finance Officer and Operations Reviewer for the pilot.

  2. Prepare the service request

Set the date interpretation and meal-rate selection. Create a Requested booking with a realistic diner count and rehearse an overlap and a capacity failure before confirming eligible space.

  3. Follow seating and counter work

Record the group entering service, inspect linked tasks and capture a restaurant counter request. Check the source identity and repeated-command behavior.

  4. Review the account

Prepare meal and counter charges, review eligible posting and reconcile confirmed receipts. Test a pending payment and the explicit outstanding-balance path before completion.

  5. Inspect before reuse

Complete service and move the area into Cleaning. Assign the work, rehearse a failed inspection and authorize release only after the inspection passes.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Cafeteria Management System.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Cafeteria Management System for your business. Begin with a diner group, a dining area and a dated meal rate. Rehearse booking confirmation, the final account and cleaning inspection with the staff who will run the service.

What belongs on a meal booking?

Record the diner, dining area, serve date, service end date, diner count and rate per meal. The booking connects the group to its counter activity, service tasks and financial account.

How is seating capacity checked?

Confirmation compares the diner count with the selected area's seating capacity and rechecks overlapping service dates while the area is locked. An Available status does not remove those checks.

How are the service date boundaries treated?

The confirmation interval includes the serve date and excludes the service end date. Agree that date interpretation during setup and rehearse adjacent bookings as well as a genuine overlap before using the process with live requests.

How do meal rates apply?

Dated rate plans carry the area type, rate per meal and minimum meals. The Property Manager uses the agreed plan-selection procedure when preparing the booking's rate and checks the effective period before confirmation.

Can counter activity stay with the diner account?

Yes. Counter bookings and charges reference the parent meal booking. The authorized capture and charge actions validate the source context so the final account can include the correct activity.

Does completing service confirm a payment?

No. A pending receipt needs its own confirmation evidence. Service completion requires the account to be reconciled against confirmed payments or an outstanding balance to be explicitly acknowledged through the authorized process.

Who reviews charges?

The Operations Reviewer checks eligible source evidence before posting. The Finance Officer prepares financial drafts and follows the guarded charge process. Counter booking access alone does not grant financial editing or approval authority.

When can a dining area become Available again?

After service, the area enters Cleaning. Assigned work is completed and the service inspection must pass before the Operations Reviewer authorizes release. A Completed task alone is insufficient.

How should staff handle an uncertain submission?

Inspect the existing source case and operation result before submitting more work. The confirmation and seating actions use operation identity to recognize repeated input, and recovery should preserve the evidence of what actually happened.
