What you can do
Put service work with the person doing it
A meal booking can need attention beyond seating the diners. A dining area may need cleaning, a maintenance issue may interrupt preparation, or the group may need service assistance. A service task records that work against both the dining area and the meal booking, with an assigned team member and a due date.
The Front Desk Agent and Property Manager follow tasks from Open through Assigned and In progress to Completed. The completion date records when the task was finished. It does not by itself establish that the area passed the inspection needed for release. The Operations Reviewer makes that decision using the service evidence before the next group relies on the area being ready.
How the work is organized
- Capture the work. Select the service type and link the task to the affected booking and dining area. Use the due date to show when the work needs attention during the service cycle.
- Assign responsibility. Choose an active staff member whose authenticated identity is linked to their team record. The assigned person can find their work without confusing another colleague’s task with their own.
- Record progress. Update the task as the work moves through Assigned and In progress. Record completion when the work is finished, then pass any release decision to the Operations Reviewer.
What to agree during setup
Agree how staff distinguish cleaning, maintenance and diner service requests. Decide who assigns work and who follows a task when its due date has passed.
Check staff identity mappings before relying on the personal work list. The selected team member must resolve to the person signed in. Agree how handovers work when a colleague is unavailable, and who can reassign the task while preserving its booking and area links. A task on the wrong dining area can send the next person to the wrong place even when its status looks correct.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a lunch booking that finishes with a cleaning request for its dining area. Assign the task to the Front Desk Agent responsible for that work and confirm that it appears in their personal list. Open the same list as another staff member and check that the assignment is interpreted correctly.
Move the task to In progress, complete the cleaning and retain the completion date. Ask the Operations Reviewer to inspect the area. If the inspection fails, the area must stay out of Available status even though the cleaning task is marked Completed. Resolve the remaining work and repeat the inspection before the area is released for another booking.

Follow the work through
Follow request to meal service for task creation and cleaning and area release for the final inspection handoff.
