What you can do
Make the device offer's requirements reviewable
A device quote can depend on requirements that need attention before the offer proceeds. Quote Specialist records the device model, required date, unit count and training requirement against the parent quote and selling organization. These details give Pricing Reviewer a specific requirement revision to examine alongside the commercial offer.
The requirement has its own lifecycle from Draft through submission and decision to completion. Keep that lifecycle distinct from the quote’s pricing and acceptance states. Approval of a requirement records the requirement outcome; it does not change the quote amount or substitute for independent pricing approval.
How the work is organized
- Requirement preparation. Quote Specialist identifies the intended model and unit count, then records the required date and training expectation in plain language. The parent quote keeps the requirement connected to the customer discussion.
- Independent decision. Pricing Reviewer examines the submitted requirement revision and decides whether it should be Approved or Rejected. The team retains the decision timing and follows the authorized path for the reviewed scope.
- Completion handoff. Quote Specialist follows up the approved requirement and records completion through the agreed action. The quote continues through its own pricing, approval and acceptance path even when requirement work is complete.
What to agree during setup
Agree how the device model is named and how the unit count relates to the quote lines. Decide what the required date represents in the sales handoff. It should be clear whether the customer is asking for an offer by that date or setting a requirement that the downstream team must consider.
Write the training requirement so the next responsible team can understand the request. Identify who arranges training outside the quote process and which evidence should accompany the offer. Use the requirement record to capture the commercial expectation and its review. Agree the external training handoff with the team responsible for delivery.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Rehearse an offer for a named device model with a stated unit count and a request for a site handover briefing. Quote Specialist enters those details and the agreed required date, then submits the requirement revision. Pricing Reviewer checks that the record refers to the intended quote and that the requirement is understandable before deciding it.
Next, change the requested unit count after the submission in a separate rehearsal case. Confirm that the earlier decision cannot be treated as approval of the changed requirement without following revision control. Complete an eligible approved requirement and inspect the parent quote: its accepted value and commercial state should remain governed by the quote process. Ask the specialist to identify the next pricing action separately.
