Transactional practices
A transactional practice may have several proposed engagements for the same client account. Each opportunity can carry its own subject, owner, expected close date and value. Calls and meetings stay with the opportunity they concern. A review decision cites the opportunity revision, and the intake result records whether that proposed engagement was accepted.
How Law Firms CRM is set up for you
First contact
Create or confirm the Accounts record and its firm organization before opening an Opportunities record for the prospective engagement.
Working conversation
Assign a Relationship Owner, record the next activity and keep the expected close date useful for the team.
Decision trail
Link matter intakes, review decisions and record attachments to the opportunity when those records are needed for a decision.
Exception review
Have a Sales Manager inspect operation receipts marked Failed or needs review before using an attempted action as an outcome.
A transactional practice may have several proposed engagements for the same client account. Each opportunity can carry its own subject, owner, expected close date and value. Calls and meetings stay with the opportunity they concern. A review decision cites the opportunity revision, and the intake result records whether that proposed engagement was accepted.
Start with one real prospective engagement and the people who would handle it. Record its account, opportunity and an activity. Draft an intake and ask the named reviewer to inspect it. Use an independent manager to record a decision on the opportunity revision. The receiving person should be able to tell which decision concerns the intake and which concerns the opportunity.
Agree how the firm names client accounts, selects an owner and distinguishes an accepted engagement from a promising sales conversation. Test an ordinary approval and a rejection or return before importing a larger pipeline. Check the attachment visibility choice with the person who will inspect the evidence. If an operation fails, preserve the receipt and let the manager reconcile it against the parent record.
The [engagement decision process](/crm-for-law-firms/processes/engagement-decision) gives the team a case to rehearse. [Implementation](/crm-for-law-firms/implementation) lists the preparation sequence, and [roles](/crm-for-law-firms/roles) shows who handles each record.
