What you can do

Make the decision about the submitted work

Sales Manager reviews an eligible submission against the version prepared for that decision. The decision record retains the opportunity, source revision, reviewing person and time. Approve, Reject and Return preserve the result, with a reason that lets the owner understand the decision and prepare the next action.

For call attachments, the reviewer must be a different person from the submitter. The approval must match the same opportunity and submitted call version before completion proceeds. A useful decision record should let the team explain what was reviewed, who decided and which work the result authorizes.

How the work is organized

  • Review scope. Check the opportunity and the submitted version before considering the evidence. An approval from another action or an earlier version must not be used to complete changed work.
  • Independent judgment. Sales Manager checks the call and its consent separately from the owner’s submission. Switching role labels does not create a different person for that review.
  • Decision history. Retain the outcome and reason with the reviewer and date. A rejection or return explains the issue to resolve, while approval supports the corresponding authorized action.

What to agree during setup

Agree who is eligible to review each kind of submission and how the team handles reviewer absence. Keep the account-to-team identity links current so the system can distinguish the owner and reviewer. Decide what evidence the reviewer expects for qualification, proposal and customer outcome decisions.

Define how changes after submission are returned to the owner. A reviewer should not unknowingly decide against a version that has changed during the review. For calls, confirm that the provider identity and consent remain part of the submitted scope. Agree how the corrected work is submitted again without treating an old approval as current authority.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Relationship Owner submits a completed-call attachment for an opportunity. Sales Manager opens the review with the submitted timing and consent information. The reviewer identifies a discrepancy in the duration and returns the item with a reason. The call is recorded as Rejected so the owner can resolve the problem through the agreed correction path.

After the correction is submitted for review, the manager checks the new version. The earlier decision remains in the history, but it must not authorize completion of the changed call. A valid approval needs to correspond to the work now being acted on.

Rehearse a second case with another call on the same opportunity. The reviewer should be able to distinguish the actions even though the parent relationship is shared. Then try self-review using the submitter’s account and confirm that the independent review requirement still applies. The final history should explain both the rejected attempt and the valid decision without erasing either.

What your team sees

  • Decision History — Decisions retain the reviewed version, reason and named reviewer.
  • Call Review Queue — Submitted call details provide the context for the next independent decision.
  • Approved Calls — Approved sessions identify work eligible for the completion handoff.
