What you can do
Record what the reviewer decided
A review decision concerns a specific content revision. The reviewer sees the learning item, interaction outcomes and supporting documents, then records a decision with a reason and evidence reference. A returned decision sends the operator back to a correction; an approved decision identifies the revision the reviewer accepted. The source revision on the decision is the anchor that makes later changes understandable.
How the work is organized
The operator attaches evidence to the content item. A document record carries its title, attachment, document date, verification state and verifier. The reviewer records a separate decision and can point to supporting evidence. The reviewer role edits review decisions while the operator role prepares content and evidence. Keeping those responsibilities separate supports an independent check.
- Verify the document. Record who checked an attachment and whether it was verified.
- Bind the decision to a revision. Check the source revision before recording an approval.
- Explain the return. Give the operator a reason specific enough to correct the item.
What to agree during setup
List the evidence required for each kind of content item and decide who can verify it. Agree how a reviewer is assigned and how an operator learns that an item was returned. Prepare an approved case, a returned case and a case where a document is still unverified. For each, ask whether the decision can be traced to the exact material the reviewer saw.
Check the handoff on an actual case
An operator submits a video lesson with a supporting accessibility check and interaction results. The evidence document is attached to the lesson. The operator records the verification result and names the person who checked the document. The reviewer opens the submitted lesson and sees the document, its verification state and the interaction outcomes.
The reviewer finds that a quiz outcome needs correction and records a returned decision with a reason. The operator can open the returned decision, make a follow-up action and revise the lesson. The returned decision remains tied to the earlier source revision. When the lesson is submitted again, the reviewer makes a fresh decision against the successor revision. A previous approval cannot silently cover the changed lesson.
In rehearsal, have one person prepare the content and another record the decision. Ask the reviewer to point to the source revision and the evidence used. Ask the operator to find the return reason without editing the decision record. Then have the reviewer inspect the corrected version and explain why the earlier decision remains part of the history. The handoff works when every outcome has a responsible reviewer, date and revision.
What your team sees
- Pending review decisions — Revision decisions awaiting the reviewer’s outcome.
- Evidence to verify — Attached documents that still need a verification state.
- Returned decisions — Returned revisions and reasons for operator correction.
