What you can do
Keep the decision attached to the record
A listing can be Live while its channel purchase still needs mapping review. Keep listing state separate from order acceptance, and compare the listing quantity with the available stock position before publishing a new quantity. Channel Manager starts with the channel’s external order key and each ordered SKU. Compare a channel product mapping with the product on the line, then review any unmapped or disputed result. The listing’s Live state and displayed available quantity are separate from the order’s acceptance state. Keep the source revision on the channel order so another feed update can be checked against the same purchase.
How the work is organized
- Match within the channel. Check the external SKU against the mapping for that Channel before linking a stocked Product.
- Review each line. A line marked Unmapped or needs review goes to the mapping queue before its parent order advances.
- Accept the order separately. After mapping, review the account and ordered quantities before an approval or rejection.
What to agree during setup
Agree who owns each Channel and Store, how an external order key and revision are retained, and which person resolves a disputed SKU. Check that the channel product map uses the right stocked product and that a listing price does not silently set the local sales order price. Have Channel Manager rehearse a corrected mapping and a repeated source update with the Sales Manager who receives accepted demand.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A marketplace order arrives with an external SKU that differs from the stocked code. The Channel Manager checks the channel product mapping against the ordered line, corrects an unmapped line, then reviews the received order. Only after the mapping is settled does the channel order advance for local acceptance.
The handoff should carry the reviewed channel order, its original key and its line quantities. Sales Manager can then create the linked local order without guessing which product was ordered. If a line remains unresolved, leave it in the mapping queue and keep the parent out of approval.
