Inventory and transfers
Inventory and transfers gives the team one place to follow the stock transfer from its source decision to the next handoff. A warehouse holds assembled tables in one location and flat-packed kits in another. A dealer order claims some available units. Warehouse Manager checks owned quantity, reservations and the custody state before transferring the remainder to a second warehouse. Warehouse Manager checks stock identity and releases a transfer against an approved scope. Warehouse Operator records the physical dispatch and receipt; units still moving remain owned transit.

What you can do
How the work is organized
- Preparation. The owner checks entity, source document and current revision before submitting work.
- Decision. Warehouse Manager checks available stock, approves transfer scope and reviews count adjustments. Warehouse Operator records actual movements within the assigned warehouse.
- Execution. Record the actual quantity or amount against the approved source; retain partial results and linked corrections.
What to agree during setup
Agree product units, lot use, warehouse and location codes, count tolerance and who can release stock or approve a transfer. Decide how stock in transit is reconciled if only part of a transfer arrives. Test a partial result and a changed document before the team relies on this handoff. Keep the approved revision beside the actual result so the next owner can see what remains.
Assign preparation and approval to different people where the decision controls value or stock. Check entity and warehouse scope with each role; finance keeps bank and valuation details within its own access.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Reserve units for an approved order, then start a warehouse transfer for other units. Confirm that dispatch moves ownership into transit and that a partial receipt leaves the remainder in transit. Recount a selected scope without changing the original snapshot. Have the receiving owner compare the approved scope with actual quantity and unresolved work. Keep the prior decision visible when a case stops or changes.
Retry an already recorded event and check that it does not create a second stock or financial effect. Trace the correction to the original document and explain the remaining quantity to the next owner.

What it keeps track of
Data model- Products
- Trade goods and assembly outputs; master values do not rewrite transactions.
- Inventory
- Current owned stock by complete identity and custody state; provenance is not a second balance.
- Reservations
- Exclusive bounded demand claims through picking and owned transit.
- Stock transfers
- Same-entity transfer with actual dispatch/partial receipt and retained owned transit.
- Stock transfer lines
- Partial transfer quantities retain equal in-transit ownership and cost.
- Count plans
- Blind scoped counts with explicit review and cost before adjustment.
- Count lines
- Observed base quantity and signed variance against an unchanged locked population.
- Warehouses
- Physical sites may host segregated entity-owned positions; legal owner stays on each position.
- Locations
- Shallow warehouse bins, staging and transit custody locations.
