What you can do
Make performed work reviewable
A scheduled order tells the technician which asset needs attention. Starting the job marks the order In Progress and flags the asset for maintenance. Work evidence then holds the performing team member, the time interval and the description of work performed. The execution action moves the order to Review so Maintenance Manager can inspect the result before closeout.
How the work is organized
- Start. Technician uses the scheduled work order and checks the asset and permit context.
- Record. The work log connects the technician and performed work to that order.
- Inspect. Maintenance Manager accepts the evidence and closes the order with a service history entry.
What to agree during setup
Agree what a useful work description must include for each kind of job. An inspection may need a measured finding; a corrective repair should identify the component worked on and the resulting condition. The evidence interval should reflect actual work. The team member on the evidence record should match the person who performed the task so later review can locate the right operator.
Decide who reviews the result and how the team handles a job that cannot be accepted immediately. Review is a distinct state. The accept action closes the order, creates service history and returns the asset to service. Managers should base that decision on the description and asset condition, not only on the order’s due date.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A scheduled pump inspection is assigned to a technician. Before starting, the technician checks the asset and the Approved permit. The execution action marks the order In Progress. The technician records the work interval, inspected components and observed outcome. The order moves to Review. Maintenance Manager reads the evidence, checks the pump’s condition and accepts the completed work. The order closes; the service history record remains linked to the same pump and order.
The work log lets the manager revisit who performed the service and when. The work log shows start and end times together, making an incomplete interval easy to find. When a later fault occurs, the asset’s service history and the original work description explain what was previously done.
What your team sees
