Specialty contractors
A specialty contractor may start with a narrow business unit and a small group of owned controls. The same assessment structure can hold the period, scope and test results for a defined work package. Control Owners provide the operational context while the Assessment Owner records the sample and evidence. A failed or inconclusive result becomes a finding only when it meets the source rule.
How Construction GRC is set up for you
Defined scope
Write the work package and period into the assessment before planning tests.
Test evidence
Use stable references for the samples checked by the assessment owner.
Retest boundary
Give the reviewer the finding and submitted action without making them the correction owner.
Pilot one work package with an active control and a named owner. Run a test with a documented sample and intentionally record an exception. Submit a correction with evidence, then have a separate reviewer retest it. The team should compare the original test, finding and retest before closing the case.
For a specialty contractor, define the work package in the assessment scope statement and select the control that applies to it. The Control Owner can explain the practice while the Assessment Owner records the test. Review the failed result and its evidence reference before assigning the corrective action.
When the pilot reaches a failed result, record the correction owner and due date. Ask a different person to perform the retest. A passing result can close the finding; a failed or inconclusive result keeps it in follow-up. This is the clearest way to check that the team understands the boundary between doing the correction and verifying it.
Use [implementation](/grc-for-construction/implementation) to plan the rollout and [the data model](/grc-for-construction/data-model) to check the relationships before importing records. Review [roles](/grc-for-construction/roles) with the people who will inspect, test, correct and retest.
