Set up the first cycle with Proto

Ask Proto to help organize the greenhouse setup and review cases.

It can

  • Greenhouse Manager: Ask for a rehearsal plan that follows a crop cycle from planting through assigned work and harvest review.
  • Grower: Ask which field and cycle details to check before entering a completed task or observation.
  • Stock Controller: Ask for a lot reconciliation checklist using quantity on hand, unit, expiry and linked usage.
  • Harvest Reviewer: Ask for the live harvest fields and cycle link to inspect before acceptance.

Stays with a person

  • Proto can prepare a configuration or point out incomplete record links.
  • The named manager and harvest reviewer make the operational decisions.
  • The team confirms measurements, physical stock and surveyed geometry against its own source of truth before acting.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Map the growing areas

Agree how physical spaces become Fields and which surveyed shapes belong in GreenhouseZones. Confirm field codes, names and availability.

  2. Set up people and access

Connect People to Users and assign manager, grower, stock controller, reviewer and survey duties. Test an assigned person’s task access.

  3. Load the starting records

Enter an active crop cycle and reconcile one input lot’s quantity, unit and expiry.

  4. Rehearse field work

Plan a feeding or irrigation task, have the manager approve it, then record completion and any input consumption.

  5. Review a harvest

Enter a dated quantity, unit and grade against the cycle and have the harvest reviewer check the live record.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Greenhouse Management.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Greenhouse Management for your business. Start with one field, one crop cycle, the people who approve and perform work, one input lot and a representative harvest.

How do I organize repeat plantings?

Create a separate crop cycle for each planting, linked to the field where it grows. Keep crop and variety names consistent so repeat plantings can be compared without mixing their tasks or harvests.

Can I assign irrigation and feeding work?

Yes. A field task can carry Irrigation or Feeding as its task type, with a due date, cycle, field and assigned person. The manager reviews planned work before it is marked approved.

How is input use tracked?

Record the lot in input stock and link each applied quantity to both that lot and the field task. Review the lot's unit, expiry and quantity on hand before another use.

Where do field measurements go?

Use a field observation for the date, type, value, unit and notes of a scouting finding. Use a nutrient reading for an applied input, quantity, unit, date, field and applicator.

How is a harvest reviewed?

Enter its date, measured quantity, unit, grade and crop cycle. A named harvest reviewer checks the live record and linked cycle before accepting the evidence.

Can I keep maps of growing areas?

A greenhouse zone record can hold surveyed boundary geometry, survey date and area linked to a field. Agree the field and zone naming before importing maps.

What should I prepare for the first pilot?

Bring one field, a current planting, the people who approve and perform work, one input lot and a measured harvest. Rehearse the handoffs before adding more growing areas.

Who can see assigned work?

The Field work board shows the assigned person on each task. Set up People and Users links, then rehearse the manager and grower permissions before opening task records to the wider team.
