Ask for the next case step

Give each team member help finding the next case, evidence item or review decision.

It can

  • Clinical Coordinator: Find cases with pending consent and investigations scheduled for today, then prepare the next handoff.
  • Licensed Clinician: Show assigned follow-up actions and specimens that have not reached Tested.
  • Clinical Governance Administrator: Find privileges awaiting verification or near their effective end date.
  • Clinical Reviewer: Gather an investigation's notes, observations, specimen states and dispensations for review.

Stays with a person

  • A person makes the clinical decision and checks the source evidence.
  • Ask the agent to identify the record and the next action, then review the case, consent and investigation before changing status.
  • The Clinical Reviewer decides whether the evidence supports completion; the Clinical Coordinator records the status change.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Agree the case rule

Choose patient number ownership, duplicate handling and consent purposes. Map the first cases and the people who will investigate them.

  2. Set access

Link users to People, confirm configured role permissions, and enter team assignments and privilege evidence.

  3. Run an investigation

Schedule an episode, record arrival, notes, observations, specimens and a case follow-up action.

  4. Rehearse review

Move the episode to AwaitingReview. Have the Clinical Reviewer inspect dates, author and evidence before completion.

  5. Check ongoing work

Review open actions and specimen states after the episode closes. Correct ownership or due dates before the next operating cycle.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Infection Control System.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Infection Control System for your business. Begin with one case, its consent, an assigned investigator and one investigation that reaches clinical review.

Can a case have more than one investigation?

Yes. Each investigation links to the case and has its own investigator, schedule, status and evidence records.

Where is consent recorded?

The case has a consent position. Each purpose-specific consent also records its version, dates, document and status.

How is an investigator assigned?

The case and investigation name an investigator. A team assignment records the person's access purpose and effective period for the case.

How are clinical privileges checked?

The Clinical Governance Administrator records privilege type, license, issuing authority, verification evidence, dates and status for the clinician.

How do specimens move through processing?

A specimen belongs to an investigation. Its status can move from Ordered to Collected, Received and Tested, or be marked Rejected.

What happens when an investigation needs review?

The investigation is marked awaiting review. The Clinical Reviewer examines its notes, observations, specimen states and treatment records and decides whether completion is appropriate. The Clinical Coordinator then updates the investigation status.

Can follow-up continue after an investigation is complete?

Yes. Follow-up actions belong to the case and retain their own assignee, due date and status.

Where are treatment details recorded?

A dispensation belongs to an investigation and records medication, lot, quantity, unit and authorizing person.

How do we plan outside connections?

Agree which system owns identity, laboratory, pharmacy and billing data. Rehearse how those values enter the linked case and investigation records during implementation.
