What you can do

Explain a stock change from request to result

Waste work needs an inspected quantity and a decision the team can trace. The kitchen waste action reviews stock requests, writes review decisions and a matching operation receipt result, increments the request revision and moves it into the approved state. Follow the posted movement and lot balance to confirm the stock deduction associated with that decision.

Stock movements separately record quantity, signed quantity, reason, source effect key, posted flag and parent request. Each movement’s reversal reference connects a compensation to the earlier movement. Follow those records when deciding whether an approved waste request has actually affected the lot balance.

How the work is organized

  • Reviewed submission. Inventory Clerk prepares the waste request and attachment evidence. Inventory Supervisor decides the current revision and retains the rationale beside the source record.
  • Posted effect. The stock execution action applies a signed movement to stock lots’ on-hand quantity and records the operation result. Preserve the request-derived source effect key so a replay cannot apply the same effect again.
  • Verified outcome. Reconciliation compares posted movements with authorized request quantity. A mismatch writes a Failed operation receipt record and leaves the request unchanged; the team then resolves the specific difference.

What to agree during setup

Agree how the kitchen identifies a waste submission through subject and its supporting evidence, and how reason explains the later stock effect. Use the inspected quantity and decision to identify the waste case. Agree how the clerk describes it, what evidence the supervisor needs and which movement belongs to the approved request. Keep unrelated movements out of the waste review.

Inventory Supervisor owns reversal, authorized correction and reconciliation actions. Auditor should be able to distinguish Recorded, Verified, Failed and Corrected receipt states. Decide how the team reviews a failed result and keeps its earlier operation key and failure reason available; keep the unresolved quantity difference visible until the supervisor has explained and reconciled it.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Rehearse a 2 kg waste request against a rice lot holding 10 kg. Approval records the decision; the stock effect remains pending until execution. For the deduction, inspect a movement with quantity 2 kg and signed quantity of −2 kg, leaving 8 kg on hand. Inventory Supervisor then reconciles the authorized request against the posted movement. Replaying execution must leave the lot at 8 kg.

Introduce a mismatch between the authorized quantity and the posted total in a controlled rehearsal. Inspect the Failed receipt and confirm the stock request remains unchanged. Inventory Supervisor decides whether to correct the authorized scope or reverse a wrong movement through the applicable workflow. Cancelling a request releases held reservations; it does not remove already posted effects.

For reversal, inspect the new compensating stock movement record, its link to the original movement and the corrected lot balance. The original stays immutable. Repeat the reversal and confirm the workflow returns the existing compensation. Auditor should be able to explain the original effect, its correction and the reconciliation result from the retained records.

What your team sees

  • Operation Receipts Register — Read recorded, verified, failed and corrected operation evidence.
  • Posted Movements — Inspect posted signed quantities and follow any linked original movement.
  • Returned and Escalated Decisions — Investigate returned or escalated requests using the supervisor’s rationale.
