What you can do

Decide what the next job needs

The Maintenance Manager uses each work order to make a practical commitment: which machine needs attention, what the Technician will do and when the job is due. Preventive, Corrective and Inspection work share the same request record, so the planner can compare planned servicing with issues that arrive during the operating day.

The Work Orders workspace brings a status board and a paginated list together. Opening a work order gives the team its record form and a detail panel showing the actions relevant to its current status. The read-only board helps the planner inspect the queue; the job advances through the appropriate workflow action after its prerequisites have been checked.

How the work is organized

  • Request scope. Write a description that identifies the observed problem or planned task. Link the asset and assigned person, then choose the work type. The Requested state gives the Maintenance Manager a queue to review before scheduling a commitment.
  • Authorization. Check the machine and arrange the safety permit for the intended window. The Maintenance Manager approves the permit through the planning workflow and confirms who will perform the work. An ambiguous permit window must be resolved before the start action.
  • Assignment. Confirm the due date and Technician, then read back the Scheduled work order. The assigned person follows the same record into execution, labor capture and inspection so that planning decisions remain connected to the eventual service outcome.

What to agree during setup

Decide who receives maintenance requests and how descriptions should distinguish a symptom from the work to perform. Establish the active people who can receive assignments. Their user accounts must resolve to the correct person so that work reaches the intended Technician and the workflow can attribute the acting user.

Agree the meaning of a due date for your operation. A job due before a production restart may need a different planning conversation from a routine inspection. Rehearse the local planning handoff with the people who control machine access. Production schedules and external dispatch tools can be connected during setup where that coordination is needed.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A Technician reports abnormal noise on cooling pump CP-14. The Maintenance Manager creates corrective work describing the noise, links the pump and assigns the intended person. Before scheduling, the manager checks the permit window against the period when the machine will be available for maintenance.

Run the planning action, then open the work order again. Confirm Scheduled, the due date and the assigned person. Ask another Technician to find their own work and verify that CP-14 has not been assigned to them by mistake. The planned job is ready for execution only when the team can identify the equipment, understand the scope and use the approved permit at the intended time.

What your team sees

  • Maintenance Queue — Requested and planned jobs with their asset, assigned person and due date.
  • Work Order Board — Maintenance work grouped by status for the planning conversation.
  • My Maintenance Work — The jobs assigned to the signed-in person, with scope and due dates.

Follow the work through

Rehearse request to schedule, then continue with execution and inspection.
