What you can do

Decide on the current revision

The Insurance Coordinator sends a prepared policy for independent review. The Authorized Underwriter examines the assured, subject, coverage lines, premium and supporting evidence. The review decision records the policy, its source revision, the reviewer, a reason and the time. Approve, Reject and Return are distinct decisions. A returned case goes back for correction; an approval concerns the revision that the underwriter actually saw.

Carrier issuance is a separate operational action. A reviewed policy is issued only with carrier evidence retained on the policy and an operation receipt for the guarded action. The carrier policy identifier and issue time tell the team which contract was issued. The operation key and expected revision help distinguish a retry from a new request. An exception receipt lets the team investigate a failed or uncertain result before repeating an external action.

How the work is organized

  • Review queue. Policies awaiting review are collected for the underwriter’s decision.
  • Decision record. The reviewer signs the source revision and explains an approval, rejection or return.
  • Operation receipt. The issue action retains its key, result state and external references beside the policy.

What to agree during setup

Decide who may submit policies and which Authorized Underwriters may independently decide on them. Agree the evidence required for a particular marine risk and how a returned revision is resubmitted. Establish the carrier connection and its unique response reference before using issuance. Confirm how staff will investigate a failed receipt, including how to compare the expected revision with any actual carrier result. Treat a received premium as its own event with its own verified receipt.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Take a policy with a cargo line from Draft to under review. Have an underwriter return it with a reason, revise the coverage and submit again. Check that the later approval names the newer revision. Execute the issue action and inspect the policy identifier, issue time and completed operation receipt. Revisit the same operation key to ensure a retry does not produce another policy. If the carrier response is unclear, leave the receipt for reconciliation until the external effect is confirmed.

What your team sees

  • Policy Review Queue — Present eligible policies and their current revision for decision.
  • Policy Review Decisions — Read the reviewer, decision and reason attached to a revision.
  • Exception Operation Receipts — Find carrier actions requiring investigation.

Follow the work through

Use review and issuance for the complete decision path and operation reconciliation for uncertain carrier results.
