Component manufacturers
A component manufacturer may purchase material while producing customer-specific items on shared resources. Production Planner needs the approved customer quantity, stock after reservations and remaining incoming supply before discussing the work to arrange. Material Requirement Planning keeps those quantities and dates available alongside run exceptions and production evidence.
How Material Requirement Planning is set up for you
Review the planning window
Start with customer orders marked Approved or Released and required within the horizon. Confirm the current customer promise before reviewing more production supply.
Check reservations with the warehouse
Compare on-hand and reserved quantities at the relevant item, location and lot. Ask the stock owner to explain a balance that leaves little available supply.
Keep purchasing quantities current
Use ordered quantity less receipts when reviewing an incoming purchase. Confirm the supplier due date through the agreed communication channel.
Review shop evidence
Production Operator captures working dates and good and scrap quantities. Quality Reviewer reads the evidence, while Production Planner records work-order and batch outcomes.

Pick a repeat component with an Approved customer requirement and a resource the shop knows well. Check the resource's availability and planned production interval with its owner. Include reserved stock and an open purchase so the team can explain both the remaining requirement and when supply is expected.
Repeat MRP while an existing suggestion is Firmed, then compare the result after arranging the actual commitment. Investigate a past-due exception by checking the supplier date and the affected customer demand. Record the resolution only after the source issue is addressed. Agree the warehouse connection and engineering evidence owner during setup, and configure Manager's approval responsibility before the cycle depends on it.
