Systems to connect
- Warehouse stock source. Set up the stock connection with the warehouse owner. Map item, location and lot, reconcile on-hand and reserved quantities, and agree the cutoff used by planning. Confirm physical issues and receipts with that source.
- Engineering and planning inputs. Agree the connection to the source of engineering and lead-time evidence. Identify the person who can explain a component requirement or resolve an engineering-related planning exception.
- Supplier communication. Choose the channel used to send purchases and confirm changed delivery promises. Production Planner checks the actual sending before recording Sent and obtains the supplier’s response through that channel.
- Accounting. Agree any export of purchasing quantities or production evidence with finance. Define the item and document mappings, cost basis and reconciliation needed by the accounting owner before enabling the handoff.
How connections are governed
Each connection needs an owner and an agreed record mapping. Keep credentials in the approved connection setup and verify the required access with that owner. Rehearse a duplicate input and a failed delivery before enabling unattended work. Check the receiving system before retrying a request whose outcome is uncertain.
For stock, compare accepted quantities with the warehouse cutoff. For purchasing, retain the distinction between sending, the supplier’s response and physical receipt. For engineering inputs, review a requirement with its source owner before using it to make a supply commitment.
Use Implementation and migration to agree the first connection rehearsal and Exception investigation to resolve source discrepancies.
