What you can do
Release work with a clear operating basis
Production Planner prepares the product, customer order, resource and planned quantity before authorizing work. Planned start and end dates give the team a production interval to review. The guarded release workflow releases an eligible Draft work order and retains the operation identity and recorded release person and date.
Production Operator captures material issues and operating logs against the work order. Good and scrap quantities, working dates and batch disposition help the team explain the result. Quality Reviewer reads that evidence and communicates findings; Production Planner maintains work-order progress and batch outcomes.
How the work is organized
- Review before release. Production Planner checks the prepared work and invokes the guarded release action. Inspect the recorded operation identity when reviewing a retry so an identical request can be traced to the existing release.
- Capture operating evidence. Production Operator records the issued item, lot and quantity, then logs the operator, working dates and good and scrap quantities. Keep the work-order reference correct on each entry.
- Review the outcome. Quality Reviewer reads the logs, issues and batch evidence. Production Planner records the supported batch disposition and work-order state after reviewing the findings with the team.
What to agree during setup
Agree how the operator reports physical material use to the warehouse owner. Rehearse issues marked Posted and Reversed with the chosen stock connection, then compare the resulting warehouse quantities. Identify the person who explains a difference before the next planning run uses the updated stock.
Review resource availability and the capacity minutes recorded for each resource with the shop owner. Compare planned start and end dates with the shop’s scheduling arrangements before making a delivery commitment. Agree who updates work progress when production starts and how evidence reaches the reviewer when work moves into quality review.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Prepare an eligible Draft work order for the reviewed product, customer order and resource. Production Planner releases it through the guarded workflow and checks the resulting release evidence. Repeat the identical operation and confirm that the existing release is retained. Inspect a changed request with the person responsible for the workflow before attempting it again.
Have Production Operator record a log with actual working dates and good and scrap quantities. Quality Reviewer reads the log alongside a linked batch marked Held and communicates the finding. Production Planner checks the evidence before updating the disposition or work-order outcome.
Finally, review a Completed work order with a batch still Held. Keep that disposition visible during the supply discussion and ask the operating team to explain what can be used. Aggregate production logs and batch summaries separately when reviewing quantities. A work order with several logs and batches should retain the same recorded good quantity when its summaries are combined.
