What you can do
Put commercial detail on the line
The customer order describes the overall request. Its lines name the products and quantities to allocate or ship. Order Coordinator selects a product for each line, enters quantity and unit price, and reviews the line total before confirming the order. An order that mixes a device with an accessory can then move through fulfillment without treating the whole request as one physical item.
Products carry a name, SKU, device category, base unit, standard price and operating organization. Inventory tracking and substitution flags inform the handling policy. The order line records whether substitution is allowed for that purchase. A substitute still needs the order team to verify the selected product and resulting commercial detail before execution.
How the work is organized
- Product identity. SKU and organization anchor the sellable item; device category distinguishes the work attached to a device.
- Line value. Quantity, unit price and calculated total make the confirmed order value reviewable from its detail.
- Line progression. Draft and Open lines can be allocated; allocated lines become Fulfilled during the release run. Cancelled lines remain in the order history.
What to agree during setup
Agree who maintains active products, how SK us map to channel listings and which products use inventory tracking. Confirm the base unit before importing or entering orders. Product standard price is a catalog reference; the line unit price is the price on the order. Decide who may change that price while the order is Draft and when a new revision needs another review.
Fulfillment Operator needs a consistent way to identify device lines because shipping records events per device line. Keep device categories understandable for operators. Rehearse what happens when a requested device is unavailable and the line allows substitution. Preserve the original order and its decision trail while the team resolves the request.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Prepare an order with one device and one accessory. Assign a product, quantity and unit price to each line, then confirm the order. Compare the confirmed net amount to the lines. Run allocation and check that eligible lines reach Allocated and have matching allocation events. Repeating allocation should leave existing allocation events alone.
At shipping, inspect the device line and its Shipped event. Check that the fulfilled line still points to the correct order and product. Check the accessory line as well: release marks every line Fulfilled, while Shipped events are created for device lines. Order Coordinator and Fulfillment Operator resolve differences from the line detail rather than assuming the order header describes every item.
