What you can do

Run the work

A clerk prepares a wave for a parent request, with zone, required units, route distance and a release time. The submitted revision is reviewed by another person. The decision keeps the wave revision stable during review. Approval concerns the wave plan; executing the parent request and changing its stock balance are separate actions.

How the work is organized

  • Prepare. Inventory Clerk prepares a wave linked to a request, including zone, units, route distance and release time. The feasible release validates those values and freezes the Submitted revision. Inventory Supervisor then makes the independent decision; completion changes the wave state alone.
  • Set up. Agree zone names and the evidence used for required units, route distance and release time. Assign separate clerk and supervisor accounts for submission and decision. Review the current revision before submitting or deciding a wave. Keep the parent request visible so the team can distinguish a planning decision from an executed stock request.
  • Check. Keep the current record available to the next person before they change its state.

What to agree during setup

Agree zone names and the evidence used for required units, route distance and release time. Assign separate clerk and supervisor accounts for submission and decision. Review the current revision before submitting or deciding a wave. Keep the parent request visible so the team can distinguish a planning decision from an executed stock request.

Check the first operating cycle with the assigned roles. Keep record identifiers stable when moving existing data so the next shift can recover the same case. Use the chosen location and item names consistently. Review the permitted states with the clerk and supervisor, then retain each earlier result when a later action corrects it.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Create a wave for an approved request with a named zone and required units. Inventory Clerk submits it and runs the feasible release against the current revision. Inventory Supervisor opens Waves Awaiting Decision and checks the frozen plan from a different account. If the supervisor rejects it, correct and resubmit through the allowed state path. If approved, the clerk may complete the wave. Check the parent request and stock lot separately: only request execution posts a movement.

Ask the next person to locate the same record and explain its current state, owner and next action. Where an action writes a receipt, inspect that result before retrying. Keep any failed result visible for the supervisor and auditor, and use the relevant record’s current revision for another decision.

What your team sees
