What you can do
Run the work
The clerk records the shipment number, carrier, state, door and seal, then sequences stops with appointments and locations. Packing units remain separately identified by carton label. A completed pick wave does not itself dispatch a load. The shipment state and stop status provide their own record of the outbound handoff.
How the work is organized
- Prepare. Inventory Clerk records each load with carrier, door, seal and shipment state, then sequences its stops with appointments and locations. Cartons have their own labels and pack states. Inventory Supervisor reviews load and stop records as separate outbound references.
- Set up. Agree who maintains shipment numbers, carrier names and door identifiers. Use the shipment reference on every stop and check appointment times with the location team. Keep carton labels in the handling unit register and decide how staff compare packing information with load plans during a handoff. A shipment state is changed on the load record, while a stop has its own status.
- Check. Keep the current record available to the next person before they change its state.
What to agree during setup
Agree who maintains shipment numbers, carrier names and door identifiers. Use the shipment reference on every stop and check appointment times with the location team. Keep carton labels in the handling unit register and decide how staff compare packing information with load plans during a handoff. A shipment state is changed on the load record, while a stop has its own status.
Check the first operating cycle with the assigned roles. Keep record identifiers stable when moving existing data so the next shift can recover the same case. Use the chosen location and item names consistently. Review the permitted states with the clerk and supervisor, then retain each earlier result when a later action corrects it.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Inventory Clerk creates a scheduled load and adds two stops in sequence with distinct appointments. The next clerk opens Loads Board for its carrier, door and current state, then opens Load Stops Schedule for the linked stops. They confirm each stop location and status before changing the load state. For packed stock, they consult Handling Units Register by carton label and station. Inventory Supervisor checks the load details and stop appointments separately; a wave completion does not dispatch the load.
Ask the next person to locate the same record and explain its current state, owner and next action. Where an action writes a receipt, inspect that result before retrying. Keep any failed result visible for the supervisor and auditor, and use the relevant record’s current revision for another decision.
What your team sees
- Loads Board — Shows the record identity and current state for the next action.
