What you can do
Run the work
An approved request produces a posted signed movement and changes the linked lot on-hand balance. The movement carries its source request, item, lot, location and owner. If a posted effect needs correction, the supervisor posts a compensating movement. The original remains as evidence and a repeated reversal returns the existing compensation.
How the work is organized
- Prepare. Inventory Clerk executes an approved request through the stock action, which posts a signed movement and changes the selected lot balance once. Inventory Supervisor uses a compensating movement to reverse a posted effect and reconciles the request against posted totals.
- Set up. Agree who may execute an approved request and who may reverse a posted movement. Capture the lot, item, location and source request before posting. Use a stable source effect key to avoid a second stock effect on retry. Reconcile signed quantities against the authorized request quantity and retain the original movement when a correction is needed.
- Check. Keep the current record available to the next person before they change its state.
What to agree during setup
Agree who may execute an approved request and who may reverse a posted movement. Capture the lot, item, location and source request before posting. Use a stable source effect key to avoid a second stock effect on retry. Reconcile signed quantities against the authorized request quantity and retain the original movement when a correction is needed.
Check the first operating cycle with the assigned roles. Keep record identifiers stable when moving existing data so the next shift can recover the same case. Use the chosen location and item names consistently. Review the permitted states with the clerk and supervisor, then retain each earlier result when a later action corrects it.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Execute an approved request for a known lot and inspect Posted Movements for the signed quantity, source request and owner. Repeat the same action with its source effect key; the lot balance must stay unchanged on replay. Have Inventory Supervisor reverse the posted movement and find both original and compensating entries. Reconcile the posted total against the approved quantity. A mismatch creates a Failed receipt and leaves the request unchanged.
Ask the next person to locate the same record and explain its current state, owner and next action. Where an action writes a receipt, inspect that result before retrying. Keep any failed result visible for the supervisor and auditor, and use the relevant record’s current revision for another decision.
