What you can do
Run the work
A clerk enters an item, location, quantity and required date. The supervisor checks the request revision and decides the authorized scope before any stock effect is posted. The request number joins the decision, reservation, movement and receipt. A returned review needs a fresh decision against the current revision. An executed or cancelled request cannot be decided again.
How the work is organized
- Prepare. Inventory Clerk prepares a request with item, location, quantity and required date. Inventory Supervisor decides its current revision, then the clerk can reserve eligible stock and execute an approved request. The request links the decision, reservation, movement and receipt.
- Set up. Agree who enters demand and which location is the source or counterparty. Use stable request numbers and select an owner linked to a team member. Inventory Supervisor needs the current revision before deciding and a reason when rejecting, returning or escalating. Confirm how changed authorized quantity releases earlier held reservations before another action uses the same lot.
- Check. Keep the current record available to the next person before they change its state.
What to agree during setup
Agree who enters demand and which location is the source or counterparty. Use stable request numbers and select an owner linked to a team member. Inventory Supervisor needs the current revision before deciding and a reason when rejecting, returning or escalating. Confirm how changed authorized quantity releases earlier held reservations before another action uses the same lot.
Check the first operating cycle with the assigned roles. Keep record identifiers stable when moving existing data so the next shift can recover the same case. Use the chosen location and item names consistently. Review the permitted states with the clerk and supervisor, then retain each earlier result when a later action corrects it.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Create a draft request for a known item and required date. Inventory Clerk sends it to Review, then Inventory Supervisor records an approval against the current revision. Check the review decisions entry and matching receipt. Try the same decision with a stale revision and confirm it is refused. Reserve the eligible lot, execute the approved request, and find its movement and receipt under the source request. A cancelled or executed request cannot be reviewed again.
Ask the next person to locate the same record and explain its current state, owner and next action. Where an action writes a receipt, inspect that result before retrying. Keep any failed result visible for the supervisor and auditor, and use the relevant record’s current revision for another decision.
