What you can do
Give each planting a dated cycle
A crop cycle connects a crop and variety to a field. It holds the planted date, expected harvest date and actual harvest date, along with a status from Planned through Closed. The plantation manager can inspect the crop plan beside the field’s operating status and area. Field tasks and crop harvest records link to that cycle, so the team can follow work and quantity from planting through harvest review.
The expected date is an outlook for the team, not a promise that every block will mature together. As conditions change, the manager can compare the days remaining with field observations and the open task schedule. The cycle’s harvest count and accepted harvest quantity support a measured review after harvesting. Yield per hectare relates that accepted quantity to field area; the units behind the accepted quantity need a consistent local rule.
How the work is organized
- Planning. Plantation Manager identifies the field, crop and variety and records an expected harvest date.
- Progress. Field Operator and Plantation Manager record planting and use the status to distinguish planted, growing and harvesting work.
- Closure. Harvest Reviewer checks crop harvest entries, while Plantation Manager confirms the actual harvest date and resolved tasks before closure.
What to agree during setup
Agree what one cycle means when a field is replanted in sections. Establish whether the expected harvest date is revised in place and how the team records the reason for a change. Choose the unit used for quantities included in yield comparisons, and identify who may record the accepted quantity. Decide when a cycle can move to Closed if observations remain open but field tasks are resolved. Review how crop and variety names will be entered so later comparisons group the intended plantings.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Start a cycle for North Ridge with a planted date in the current season and an expected harvest date. Add an inspection task assigned to a person. When a harvest is recorded, confirm it points to that same cycle and that its quantity and unit are meaningful beside earlier entries. A block round on North Ridge remains separate evidence: its weight belongs to the block, while the crop harvest belongs to the cycle. Before moving the cycle to Harvesting or Closed, resolve every linked field task and check the actual harvest date. Compare the accepted quantity and yield with the field area, and investigate an unexpected value with the reviewer.
What your team sees
- Crop Cycles Overview — Review field, crop, dates and status across the planting plan.
- Crop Cycle Pipeline — Scan the progression from planned to closed cycles.
