What you can do
Follow the container through the terminal
A terminal move is tied to its parent load and operating organization. The Dispatcher records the container number, move type, yard slot, vessel voyage and berth as they apply to the physical operation. The move can describe a gate entry, gate exit, discharge or loading event. These details let the Transport Supervisor examine the right physical event against the load rather than reviewing an isolated note.
The move has its own status and revision. The assigned Dispatcher submits a revision for independent review. The supervisor’s decision belongs to that submitted version. A completed time, weight and yard slot need to agree with the supporting evidence before the move is accepted as complete. Custody confirmation and the customs hold are material release checks.
How the work is organized
The Dispatcher prepares and submits the move; the Transport Supervisor decides on the submitted revision.
- Parent load. The terminal event stays traceable to the freight movement it serves.
- Revision under review. A decision is about a particular set of submitted details.
- Release checks. Custody and customs state are reviewed before completion.
What to agree during setup
Agree which team records gate, discharge and load events, and which evidence supports each move type. Define how staff obtain the completed time and gross weight from the physical operation. Decide when a yard slot, voyage and berth are required for the work performed. Make the customs hold source and the person who verifies it explicit in the local procedure. The app records the hold state, but the operational team must know which external authority supplies it.
Set a clear rule for revisions after submission. A changed container number or yard slot should be reviewed as changed work, with its new revision visible. Include an example with a hold and one without it in the first rehearsal.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A Dispatcher drafts a discharge move for a load arriving by vessel. The record identifies the container, voyage, berth and yard slot. The supporting document is attached to the parent load. Before submission, the Dispatcher checks the container number, completed time, weight and slot against the document and terminal observation.
The Transport Supervisor opens Submitted Container Moves, compares the submitted details with the attachment and records a decision with a reason. After approval, the team confirms custody and checks the customs hold. A held container remains a hold case for the operating team; it is not treated as a routine gate release. When the required checks are satisfied, the Dispatcher completes the move. The operation outcome remains available in the receipt history.
