Follow a crop from field plan to harvest

From field plan to accepted harvest ships ready to use. 2 steps need a named approval before the work moves on: Approve field work (Farm Manager) and Accept the harvest (Harvest Reviewer).

Drag a card to another stage, or focus it and use the arrow keys. It updates to match the stage.

Ask Proto for the record behind the task

Use Proto to prepare the field workflow and examine linked records.

It can

  • Farm Manager: Show planned work on a selected field and its current crop cycle before approval.
  • Field Operator: Find assigned work due today and the field observations attached to that plot.
  • Stock Clerk: Review the intended input lot's unit, expiry and quantity before a task consumes it.
  • Harvest Reviewer: Open a harvest's date, quantity, unit, grade and linked crop cycle for checking.

Stays with a person

  • Proto helps prepare and inspect records.
  • The manager still makes the field work approval decision, and the reviewer accepts the measured harvest.
  • A request that refers to the wrong field, cycle, lot or person needs correction from the accountable team member.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Identify fields

Agree field codes, names, locations and area units. Capture a current boundary and survey date for pilot plots.

  2. Prepare people and cycles

Set up user and Team Member records, then add the current crop and variety for each pilot field.

  3. Run field work

Assign a real task, check lot eligibility before approval, capture observations and inspect the resulting task use.

  4. Review harvest

Record quantity, unit and grade on the correct cycle. Have the reviewer inspect the record before closing the cycle.

  5. Expand the scope

Add more fields, earlier cycles and external data sources after the pilot’s links and units are consistent.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for Precision Agriculture Platform.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Precision Agriculture Platform for your business. Start with a small set of fields, one active crop cycle and a real task your manager can review.

What identifies a field?

A field has a name, code, location, area and availability status. Its boundary record adds dated GeoJSON geometry and surveyed area.

Can a field have several crop cycles?

Yes. Each cycle links to a field and carries its own crop, variety, dates and status. Tasks and harvests reference the intended cycle.

Where do scouting readings go?

Record them as field observations with date, type, value, unit and notes. Keep the field reference accurate so the manager sees the right history.

Who approves field work?

Farm Manager reviews a Planned task's field, cycle, owner and due date before changing it to Approved.

How is input consumption recorded?

After the clerk checks an eligible lot and the manager approves the task, input use records the task, lot and quantity while reducing the lot balance. A field application separately records what was applied, where and by whom.

What should we check before using a lot?

Stock Clerk checks the input name, lot, unit, expiry and quantity on hand against the planned task.

How are harvest quantities reviewed?

Harvest Reviewer checks the dated harvest's quantity, unit, grade and linked cycle, with the named reviewer on the harvest record.

Can we connect survey or measurement sources?

Yes. Agree the field reference, date, area or measurement unit and source mapping before bringing records into the field history.
