What you can do
Certify what was inspected
A field inspection links to an organization and work package. The inspector records the site location, inspection time, accepted quantity and contractor before submitting the revision. The reviewer can compare those observations with the package scope and its supporting evidence. A decision date and status keep the inspection outcome visible to the manager.
Submitted, Approved, Rejected and Completed have different meanings. Submission asks for review. Approval records the decision on the observed quantity. Completion follows the persisted local effects of certification. A certified quantity is evidence of accepted work; payment remains a separate decision in the customer’s finance process.
How the work is organized
- Observe. Field Inspector records location, time, contractor and quantity on the inspection tied to its package.
- Review. Independent Reviewer examines the submitted revision against task progress and package evidence.
- Conclude. The reviewed inspection moves through approval or rejection, then completion after the local record effects are confirmed.
The inspection calendar helps the field team find dated observations. Pending Certification gives the reviewer a focused submitted queue. Rejected Inspections keeps reasons and follow-up visible through the related decision record.
What to agree during setup
Define what unit accepted quantity represents for each class of work and how location is written so another person can identify the asset. Agree which attachment types support a quantity claim and which contractor name should match the project counterparty. Name a reviewer independent of the field inspector. Decide how a rejected observation is corrected and submitted again with a new revision, while retaining the earlier decision.
Rehearse a quantity lower than the package’s completed scope. The reviewer should record the specific discrepancy before approving anything. Compare the organization on the inspection with the organization on its parent package. Use the same package reference when the inspector revises an observation, so the reviewer can still trace the earlier decision.
Check the handoff on an actual case
After a sidewalk repair, the field inspector records the location, inspection time, contractor and accepted quantity against the package. Submit the inspection and ask the reviewer to open Pending Certification. The reviewer checks the linked evidence and decides whether the quantity is supported. If rejected, retain the decision and revise the observation. If approved, verify the inspection’s completion only after the related effects are recorded.
