What you can do
Turn an issue into a reviewed plan
A corrective action belongs to a nonconformance and has an owner. The owner records the root cause, proposed action and due date. When the plan is submitted, the Quality Manager verifies its link to the underlying issue and its root cause before approving it. Approval is a human decision with a status change; implementation follows separately.
After approval, the action moves through implementation and effectiveness review. The Quality Manager checks retained evidence before closing the action and its parent nonconformance. Completion dates and due dates let the team see where work is late and whether closure followed the planned response.
How the work is organized
- Build the plan. Name the underlying nonconformance, root cause, action and responsible person.
- Approve before implementation. Give the Quality Manager the planned action and parent issue for review.
- Verify the result. Review effectiveness evidence before closing both linked records.
What to agree during setup
Agree what a useful root-cause statement looks like for property and guest-service incidents. Define the evidence retained when an action is implemented and what makes effectiveness review credible. Set due dates that match the response needed, then name the person responsible for follow-through. A due date helps only when the owner and reviewer agree what completion means.
Rehearse how a repeat issue will be handled. The action has planned, approved, implementing, effectiveness review and closed states. A fresh issue can have its own case if the original action has already closed; preserve the original closure evidence.
Check the handoff on an actual case
An inspection rejection leads to a nonconformance in containment. The Corrective Action Owner investigates and records a plan to change a recurring service check, with a due date and root-cause explanation. The Quality Manager opens the plan, confirms the parent issue and approves it. The owner implements the action and retains evidence with the relevant work. At effectiveness review, the Quality Manager checks that the change addressed the original finding, then closes the action and nonconformance.
A second rehearsal should use an incomplete root cause. The Quality Manager leaves the plan in its planned state until the link and explanation support approval. Review the due-date list afterward to make sure unfinished work remains visible.
