What you can do
Preserve the rejected inspection's context
A rejected inspection creates a linked nonconformance in containment. The quality team can follow the finding back to the inspection and its check evidence. The nonconformance records detection date, severity, description and status, so a reviewer can distinguish a newly observed issue from one under investigation or ready for disposition.
The Corrective Action Owner investigates the cause and works with the Quality Manager on disposition. Critical, major and minor are severity choices on the nonconformance. They help prioritize attention, but they do not replace a written description or inspection evidence. When a correction needs a lasting plan, the corrective action links back to this issue.
How the work is organized
- Contain the finding. Use the rejected inspection to identify what was checked and record the issue before investigation.
- Investigate the cause. Keep description and severity with the nonconformance while the owner reviews evidence.
- Carry disposition forward. Connect the corrective action to the same issue so closure can be reviewed against the original finding.
What to agree during setup
Define how the team chooses severity for guest-facing service and property standards. Decide who may move an issue through containment, investigation and disposition, and which evidence should be retained at each handoff. Agree how the inspected subject is referenced so a later reviewer can find the original case.
A property check with a failed result and a guest issue can be linked to an inspection. Keep their room, standard, stay reference and guest impact on those records. The nonconformance remains the investigation record, with a path back to inspection evidence.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A service inspection is rejected after a linked check records a failed requirement. The nonconformance points to that inspection and enters containment. The Corrective Action Owner reads the check observation, records a description and selects severity. The owner investigates, records the cause in a corrective action plan and keeps both records linked. The Quality Manager verifies that the plan addresses the rejected case before approving it.
Rehearse another case that remains open without an action plan. The open list should show its detection date and severity. A reviewer should be able to locate the linked inspection and see original check evidence.
