What you can do
Connect the sample to the inspected operation
Environmental Samples carry a room, sampled date, sample type, observed count, action limit and unit. Each sample links to an Inspection through its operational record. That relationship keeps the result with the quality work it describes. A reviewer can inspect the measured value beside the stated limit while tracing the record back to the assigned inspection. A result without its room, date or unit would be difficult to interpret; the capture flow validates those details before saving.
An authorized Inspector submits the sample against a selected operational inspection. The capture flow resolves the linked inspection and responsible reviewer through People, checks the sample details and source evidence, then saves an attributed Environmental Samples record. A rejected submission leaves no new sample record. The reviewer can return to the inspection to compare the measurement with its source context.
How the work is organized
- Collection context. Identify the room, sample type and date alongside the operational inspection.
- Measurement. Enter the observed count, action limit and unit as one intelligible result.
- Review. Let the responsible reviewer inspect the result and its source evidence in the inspection context.
What to agree during setup
Define consistent room names and sample types for the places that are actually monitored. Decide where the action limit comes from and how the unit is recorded so values can be compared honestly. Agree what source evidence accompanies a submitted count. Link each operational inspection to the People record that gives the reviewer a clear handoff. If a laboratory or monitoring system produces the source measurement, set up that connection and preserve the identity of the submitted result.
The team should settle how a concerning sample becomes follow-up quality work. The sample record holds the measurement and limit; the linked inspection and nonconformance provide the context for investigation and correction. Do not overwrite an earlier count merely because a later sample of the same room differs.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a scheduled inspection for a room and have the Inspector submit a sample with its room, date, type, count, limit and unit. First omit the unit or choose an invalid inspection so the command is rejected. Submit a valid result and have the Quality Reviewer find it from the linked inspection. Compare the saved room, measurement, limit and unit with the submitted source evidence. Discuss whether the measured result calls for a nonconformance and record that work under the same inspection.
What your team sees
- Environmental sample results — Room measurements with their dates, limits, units and linked inspections.
- Inspection queue — The assigned work that supplies operational context for a sample.
Follow the work through
