What you can do
Set the inspection scope
The inspector needs a clear subject, inspection type and scheduled date before checking fabric or garments. Record the subject reference that the team uses to locate the work, then assign a named person. Incoming, in process, Final and Service are the available inspection types. Choose the type that matches the actual control point so reviewers can distinguish supplier receipts from production and final checks.
A planned inspection becomes in progress when the inspector starts. The assigned person records requirement checks and any fabric or garment detail against that inspection. The linked inspection remains the decision record. This gives the Quality Reviewer one place to find the subject, the checks and the specialist evidence before deciding whether the scope can pass.
How the work is organized
- Plan. Put the subject reference, type, scheduled date and assigned person on the inspection.
- Execute. The inspector changes the inspection to in progress and records linked checks and evidence.
- Decide. The reviewer receives a Review case, accepts passing scope or rejects failed scope and opens a nonconformance.
What to agree during setup
Agree which subjects use each inspection type, how the subject reference is assigned, and which requirements must be checked. Name the person who reviews each type. A fabric roll or garment measurement record should point to the same inspection that owns the decision; a measurement on a different case would split the evidence from its reviewer.
Set the rule for a missing required check before the first live case. The inspection workflow rejects submission until required checks have results. Define what a passing result means for the product and the review scope, including how a not applicable check is justified. A reviewer can then distinguish a completed inspection from a case that merely reached the review queue.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take an Incoming fabric delivery. The inspector records the subject reference, assigns the case and starts it. They enter each requirement observation and attach evidence, then add roll measurements and defect points if that evidence applies. Submitting the inspection moves it to Review. The Quality Reviewer reads the requirement results and linked fabric record before accepting or rejecting the scope.
If a required check is missing, the inspector completes it before submission. If a check fails, the reviewer rejects the affected scope and creates a linked nonconformance with severity; the follow-up action names its owner. The rejected inspection and follow-up work remain connected through that link.
