What you can do
Carry the failed inspection into action
When a reviewer rejects inspection scope, they open a nonconformance linked to that inspection. They record severity as Minor, Major or Critical and identify who will handle containment. The linked corrective action names its owner. The case moves through Open, Containment, Investigation, Disposition and Closed. A Corrective Action Owner can follow the inspection link back to the check results, fabric roll evidence or garment measurements that explain the failure.
Corrective actions link to the nonconformance and carry the root cause, action, due date, owner and completion date. Quality Manager approves a planned action before implementation begins. The owner then records what was done and submits it for effectiveness review. An independent Quality Reviewer tests the result; the action and nonconformance close only after all linked actions are accepted.
How the work is organized
- Contain. The reviewer records severity and identifies who will handle containment.
- Correct. The owner investigates, proposes an action and waits for Quality Manager approval before implementation.
- Verify. An independent reviewer tests effectiveness before closing the linked records.
What to agree during setup
Set the meaning of Minor, Major and Critical for textile and garment defects. Assign containment ownership for each inspection type and decide what evidence a reviewer needs before a case enters Disposition. The root cause and action fields should describe the specific failure and the intervention, rather than restating the original inspection outcome.
Agree who can approve a plan and who can perform independent effectiveness review. The workflow separates these decisions because implementing an approved plan does not itself demonstrate that the issue stayed corrected. Define the review interval or evidence expected for different kinds of action and how the team handles a failed effectiveness test.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A Final garment inspection fails a measurement check. The Quality Reviewer rejects the affected scope and opens a linked Major nonconformance and identifies who will handle containment. The Corrective Action Owner reads the garment measurement and check observation, records root cause and writes a proposed action with a due date. Quality Manager reviews the plan and approves it before work starts.
The owner implements the approved action, retains the root cause and plan, and submits evidence for effectiveness review. A different Quality Reviewer tests the result. If all actions linked to the nonconformance pass, the reviewer closes the action and the case. If the correction fails, the case remains open for further work.
