What you can do
Follow the outcome beyond preparation
A meal can be ready without having been served or delivered. The Service and Delivery Lead can follow the order’s service time, served portions and fulfillment events to understand what actually happened. Each fulfillment event records a product, quantity, event type, occurrence time and external event identity against the parent order. Allocation, picking, shipping, delivery and return can therefore be read as separate events rather than inferred from one final flag.
Payment evidence holds provider-issued authorization, capture, refund and void receipts. The provider event identity, reference, amount, time and verification state help Finance Reviewer compare the financial evidence with the order. A request for a refund does not settle the question by itself; the provider receipt and its verified state matter.
How the work is organized
- Service has its own measure. The meal line records served portions and the order records the served time.
- Delivery is an event trail. Each fulfillment event names its type and external identity for a quantity of a product.
- Payment has provider evidence. Authorization and later capture, refund or void remain distinct receipt types.
What to agree during setup
Decide which service locations represent dining areas and which represent delivery destinations. Set a method for matching a delivery partner’s external event identity to the correct order and product. Confirm how returned quantities will be recorded when a delivery attempt fails. The team should reconcile event quantities before describing an order as delivered.
Agree which payment provider events require verification and who is allowed to mark evidence verified. Set the refund review process for a partially served order. A refund amount should be compared with actual served scope and any prior refund or void evidence. If the provider sends the same event again, its identity should allow Finance Reviewer to recognize it.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take an accepted order for a delivery destination. Kitchen Operator prepares one meal line and Service and Delivery Lead records the served portion only when it leaves the service handoff. A fulfillment event can show that the product was picked or shipped, but the delivered event is the evidence of the later delivery step. Compare each event’s quantity and product with the parent order.
Now suppose a guest reports a missing item. The lead checks the served line and fulfillment trail before promising a correction. Finance Reviewer inspects the provider’s capture and any refund evidence. If a refund is approved, the provider event should be verified and linked to the same order. The original service and delivery events remain part of the history even after the issue is resolved.
