What you can do
Execute the approved request
An approved stock request gives the warehouse a defined item, quantity and location context. The Inventory Clerk uses the stock action to execute it. The workflow posts a signed stock movement, updates the linked lot’s on-hand balance, marks the request executed and writes an operation receipt. These effects belong to the same request, so the team can explain which action changed the physical stock position.
The movement has its own record number, posting state, owner, location, item and optional lot. Its signed quantity shows direction, while the source effect key identifies the request action. A repeated execution with the same key returns the existing effect instead of adding the quantity again. This matters when a page is refreshed or a caller retries after a slow response. Staff should use the receipt and movement ledger to verify what happened before running another command.
When a posted movement was wrong, a supervisor uses a compensating movement. The original posting stays visible and the correction points back to it. The lot balance receives the offsetting effect. That gives the Auditor a path from current quantity to the original request, the posting and the reason for correction. It also keeps a repeated reversal from producing several offsets for one mistake.
How the work is organized
- Authorized source. Execute the reviewed request and its current quantity.
- Posted effect. Read the signed movement and resulting lot balance after the action.
- Correction trail. Reverse a wrong posting through a linked compensating movement.
What to agree during setup
Define which physical receiving and movement steps must finish before a clerk runs the action. Decide who checks the item and location at the point of posting. Agree how a failed or uncertain response is investigated using the request, movement and operation receipt. Give the supervisor responsibility for reversals and a reason for each correction; do not allow an operator to fix a balance by editing an old posted movement.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A supervisor releases eight accepted units for a returned item. The clerk executes the approved request. A signed movement of eight increases the selected lot balance, and a recorded receipt identifies the action. If the clerk retries the same action after a timeout, the source key resolves to the existing movement. If the lot was wrong, the supervisor posts a compensating movement, checks the corrected balance and retains both entries for the Auditor.
